Last night I went to go see the new Sofia Coppola movie, Somewhere. I was hesitant, the title struck me as suspiciously vague. Stephen Dorff plays Johnny, a movie star stranded at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles, doomed to a life of Ferrari-driving and stranger-screwing. Coppola is a master of establishing mood, but the script lacks the underlying tensions to sustain interest through all of Johnny’s artful moping. Read more »
